about

This is a story about life. About friendships, hardships, things not going according to plan, and pleasant surprises along the way. It's the story of a husband and wife learning about marriage. It's a place where I can tell our stories to the world. I created this for my husband Dana & for myself, so that in 50 years we will have documentation of our trek together. I also did this for our families. Living across an ocean from all the people we love is tough and this is our way to stay in touch as much as possible! So sit back, tuck in, grab some coffee... and enjoy!

The Beginning
It started with a phone call...from Dave Sorg at OPN Architects. They offered me a fantastic job so I accepted. Which led to the 14 hour journey from Texas to Iowa with my dad that would forever change my life. About a month after moving to Cedar Rapids, Halloween rolled around. OPN takes everything up a notch, and Halloween is no exception. I knew I had to come up with an amazing costume but was fresh out of ideas. A year prior Brittney (one of my bridesmaids) had been Carmen Sandiego for Halloween and I decided to borrow her genius idea. Tabatha (also one of my bridesmaids) took me to the largest Halloween party I have ever been to. I was having a marvelous time when a tall gentleman tapped me on the shoulder to tell me how much he loved my costume. He then proceeded to try and walk away. Ha! Like that was going to happen. I grabbed his arm and asked him who he was, what he did, and demanded his life story immediately. He was leaving for basic training in the air force in about a month. I found we had a great deal in common and at the end of the night he asked for my phone number. I gave it to him and simply felt flattered.

He called the next day to ask me out, and due to schedule conflicts, it wasn't possible. I assured him I was not blowing him off, and asked him if he wrote. "letters or emails?" was his reply and I told him email was best since he would be on vacation. I asked him to write me a letter to keep in touch until he got back in town. Imagine my surprise when we write for three weeks. After coming home Dana finally took me out on our first date (harry potter 7 part I and sushi) and we had a marvelous time. Things progressed at warp speed due to his leaving for basic training in December. He kept asking me to be his girlfriend, but I told him I just was not ready. He would smile and say okay while his eyes said "okay, I’ll wait until you are".

Then the letter writing campaign began.... For two and a half months Dana and I wrote endless letters as our sole form of communication to each other. It was through these letters that I fell in love with him. When I went to his graduation from basic, I realized I wasn't dealing with an ordinary guy... Dana was different and he was my better half. That weekend we officially became a couple and life moved forward until he proposed on Memorial Day weekend in 2011.

Far Far Away...
After our first wedding in November, I moved to Germany to be with Dana. We had the "Big Texas Wedding" on June 15,2012 to celebrate our marriage with our friends and family. We are currently living in Landstuhl, Germany and doing as much traveling as we can. We want to thank all of our family and friends for their continued support. A tremendous thank you to Mr. Tudor (dad) & mama & papa w for continually mailing us things through the USPS. Dana and I are both excited for what God intends to send our way.
